Programme information
Geopolitical volatility - conflicts, sanctions, trade tensions, supply-chain disruption and political instability - is moving faster than most boards' ability to respond, widening the gap between the pace of change and the governance structures in place to manage it.
This programme is delivered in two parts: a 3-hour Executive Masterclass covering five modules, followed a week later by a 2–3 hour Board Advisory Workshop, where a small peer group applies the frameworks to a live geopolitical challenge submitted by a participant.
The objective is not to predict the future. It is to ensure boards are equipped to govern well when it changes - with clear ownership, tested escalation routes, and a shared framework for stress-testing strategy under pressure.
Structure
Part 1: Executive Masterclass (Week 1, 3 hours)
Module 1: Board Responsibility
What good geopolitical oversight looks like.
Module 2: Scenario Planning
Stress-test strategy against plausible geopolitical developments.
Module 3: Board Capability
Identify the skills and expertise your board needs.
Module 4: Governance & Ownership
Clarify responsibility, accountability and escalation.
Module 5: Regional Perspective & Capital Allocation
Reduce blind spots and bring geopolitical thinking into major decisions.
Part 2: Board Advisory Workshop (Week 2, 2–3 hours)
A small peer-group session applying the frameworks to a live geopolitical challenge submitted by a participant: Present → Question → Challenge → Recommend → Commit.
Identify your organisation's key geopolitical exposures and assess your board's readiness to respond to them.
Apply practical frameworks - including a maturity model, scenario planning template and governance RACI — to stress-test strategy and major board decisions.
Establish clear ownership, accountability and escalation mechanisms for geopolitical risk at board level.
Non-Executive Directors, Board Members, Company Secretaries, Senior Executives, and Governance & Risk Professionals. Particularly relevant for organisations with international markets, global supply chains, cross-border investment or significant geopolitical dependencies.
